Act I to perform ‘Murder on the Oriental Rug’

Theater aficionados, get ready for ACT I’s production of “Murder on the Oriental Rug.”

Directed by June Simpson with help from Paula Harr, “Murder on the Oriental Rug” spoofs old-fashioned whodunits, female problems, the medical profession and theater folks.

When half the cast of “Murder on the Oriental Rug” bails out, the remaining performers are stuck playing all the roles.

Harr said it’s a play within a play and there are four actors doing parts for multiple roles because Broadway investors are watching.

The cast includes Curtis Simpson, Frank Shaffer, Monica Barton, John Reid McGlamory and Lori Couturie, as well as Derek Stump and Eric Lidh.

The production will be June 25 and 27 at the Andalusia Adult Activity Center. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with showtime at 7 p.m.

The event is a murder-mystery dinner theater and dinner will be served.

Cost is $30 per person and tickets may be purchased at Harold’s.

Deadline to purchase tickets is June 23.
